Wiper sweep angle

Can anyone tell me the sweep angle for a 1971 +2S 130

My 1970 Plus 2S is fitted with a 130 deg. sweep. It's not the original motor but this range seems just right.

The Lucas wiper motor had a range of gears ranging from 95 to 130 degs. in 5 deg steps.

Thanks for that info, I have trouble getting the balance between the drivers side and the park side. I now need check the motor fitted.

mmm. I do not think the motor was the only factor in sweep angle. I think the wheel boxes played a bigger part. Look at some of the other Britsh cars of the era - Cambridge and the like, where one wiper sweep was greater than its mate.

As it happens, one of my jobs is to replace my wheel boxes and rack. I will maye pull them out. Remembering my Mini days, I think the sweep is stamped on them.

Give me a day or two...

(reading Foxie's addition, I remember now - peg in the motor wheel determines the rack travel and the number of teeth on the wheel box dictates the final sweep.. as I say, give me a day or two.)

Yep, distance of peg from the center sets the sweep.
The number of degrees is usually on the cog, although some cheap replacements do not have it.
CBS car builder solutions sell most of the sweep cog options.
There are some frightful complete assemblies available, beware of cheap Chinese ones.

Just re-read your post.
What do you mean you can’t get the balance right?
If one is sweeping differently, just pull it off the spindle to move the relative sweep.
Also, it handy to have a water spray handy because if the glass is dry and the motor tired they will perform considerably differently than in the rain.

The point is if I adjust it to clear the drivers view then whet parked it obstruct the passengers view. Its the spread of the drivers blade, start to return point.

You need a wider sweep and re-position the blade(s).

I've tried a variety of motor wheels, RH and LH park, and different length wipers, but that's a new one on me !

Where are these available from ?

If irregular sweep is something you are interested in then you will need to do an internet search, I don’t recall where I read it may be on a forum somewhere, give your mind a work out figure out the effect of wheel boxes with different size wheels.
