Hi folks, just wanted to try and add a few photos of my late father Brian Mullan (1940-2007) from Ballymoney, N Irelands 1972 Lotus Elan Plus 2 S130 4 Speed that he had bought originally in 1982 and fully refurbished.
It's all original mechanically, chassis etc, has the original interior and even still has the original metal flake roof.
I recently gave it a refresh and service before it is put away for the winter. This car won first place in the Concourse category in 1997 at the Lotus show in Donington.

Hi there
That is a lovely car and it's great that it has stayed in the family. I must say that it is crying out for a set of standard wheels, be they steel or alloy. I like wolfrace, but the offsets here are a long way off.......
All the best

Zetec+ 2 under const, also 130S. And another 130S for complete restoration. Previously Racing green +2s with green tints. Yellow +2 and a couple of others, all missed. Great to be back 04/11/2021 although its all starting to get a bit out of control.

Offsets are off? Where do get that from? I have a set of 4 genuine Dunlop style rims and the Wolfrace fit the arches better than they do.

Hi
From the photographs of course. You can see that they protrude outwards from the wheel arch significantly more than a standard wheel such as your dunlop alloys would. I have seen other Plus 2's with knock on Woolfrace wheels that were similarly afflicted.
If you prefer the look over the more inset standard wheels then that is fine. To my eyes it spoils the car, but I am correct in saying that the offsets are "wrong" because they are not standard.
Funnily enough I have a thread running in the mod's forum about Spydercars Zetec conversions which also have non standard offsets, and obviously so. But they run modified suspension and wider wheels so its not quite such a straightforwards issue.

Because they are non standard doesn't make them wrong, I don't think the original wheels look well on the cars as they sit in too far from the lip of the wings.

Hello again
I am about to put a 2.0L Zetec into one of my plus 2's. I'm pleased it's not the wrong engine because I have been told several times that it is!
With respect to your car in particular, I think it is a lovely colour, that probably looks even better against all the green. If my cars turn out half as well I shall be pleased. It is clearly much loved, and I do like the modifications apart from the wheels. Your father must have been quite a talented fabricator if he made up a bespoke exhaust, and I am sure the car bears this out.
All the best!

Why do people feel the need to criticise..? If you posted up a photo of your wife or child and someone stated that they didn't like their hair colour, or their nose was too big etc, wouldn't you consider it bad manners or downright rude? No one wants or needs to know your own personal opinion, so please refrain and learn some common decency.

Hi
Personal opinion is qualitative and is only limited by human imagination. Sometimes it can great, other times not so much.
Whether a car is "standard" or not is almost completely quantifiable, and people sometimes go to great lengths to keep their cars that way.
Such is life.

In the milk of human kindness, some folks are curdled....

I like the color, wheels and the rest of it. If somebody has some rude comment about the car they have a dark sole and need to keep it to themself and there mouth shut.
Its so nice to see a great car like that and the time and effort that went into it. Good luck with it

Hello again
Let's get this straight. I said it was a lovely car with incorrect offset wheels.
Thats just a fact. Someone last week pointed out the rear bumper on my latest plus 2 was not original. News to me and I welcome the information. Now I know the difference.
I also like the Wolfrace wheels. If someone has a KO set in the standard offsets, 5.5j 13" then I have cash waiting.
To those (not the OP) who feel they can chime in with unwanted personal remarks shame on you.
