Through the wonders of the internet I have discovered that my first +2 is still alive and well. It was dispatched to a Mr Simon Propper in CA USA in November of last year from UK Sportscars.
It as was a JPS 130/5 but fitted with a 4 speed box. Originally black but now looking good in yellow.
Simon if you are a member and would like some history of your car from the Eighties I would be happy to share.
Regards
Peter

Hi Peter
That's me. I do indeed have the car in LA and it is yellow.
I'd love some history. My email is [email protected]
If you're ever in LA come and see her. Planning to take her up to Monterey in August for Classic Car Week. It's quite an event and the route includes the iconic Big Sur coast road. Tailor made for the Elan.
Thanks for getting in touch.

Hello Simon,
Glad to hear you are coming up for Classic Car week. Unfortunately Highway 1 is closed near Big Sur because of the winter mudslides and the loss of a large bridge. So you will have to turn east to Highway 101 at some point and come to Monterey via Salinas Highway 68. I hope to be there with my Elan during Car Week as well.
Regards,
Dan Wise

Hi Steve
Thats great to see my old Plus 2 is still on the road and make contact with you. I sank my hard earned savings and my life into that car, my best friend did the same too (time) and it took him years to forgive me when I swapped it for a S4.
I was 20 or so when I bought it and what a great time I had with it, ignoring all the spannering etc.
It was all black with a black vinyl roof, Lotus alloys and a glass sun roof, JPS Number ????!
Being so young and niaeve I can?t pretend to have been the best / purist mechanic, I got the Spyder bug and changed the chassis and running gear. A company in Kent, Minister Racing machined the engine with lots of new moving bits. Gearbox was done by a specialist but can?t recall the name.
I am sure I left the then new owner with all the receipts.
I shall dig out some more pics over the weekend, but the chassis change pics seem to be in 1985 when I was 23. You should just be able to make out the reg. FRU 124L
I will certainly will pop in if I ever get over to the US
Regards

Hi Peter
Here are a couple of recent pictures from LA. The car attracts a lot of interest and hangs with a pretty fancy crowd!
Enjoy - I'd love to see any old pictures and history.
Best wishes
