Hargreaves and bailey

Anybody heard of this garage hargreaves and bailey.. just noticed my plus 2 has the name on the rear reg plate.. just interested thats all wondered if it was a lotus dealer back in the day

I believe they were a car dealer in Blackpool.

Yep. They were a Lotus Main Dealer in the North West. Hargreaves & Bailey, Blackpool, Lancs. Blackpool 23862. I'd keep that original plate on the car if I were you. Jim

Thanks for the info i am intending keeping the plate .. blackpool makes some sense as i seem to remember the first owner was a butcher from southport .. all very interesting cheers

I have just been given a stack of MotorSport magazines from 1968-1974; sorting through for Lotus content I found the following Ad:

Just researched your posts.... is your car a 5 speed? If so it could be the car in the first column!! That would be quite a find...

By chance there is a much modified red Europa on eBay at the moment that was sold initially by that garage.

Interesting that in the ad the +2's were more expensive than the Sprints, oh how times have changed!!
