plus 2 at Castle Coombe
There was a previous thread re plus 2 50th anniversary celebrations and quite a lot of interest in the event at Castle Coombe on May 27th.
Is anyone coordinating members attending, what exactly might happen etc?
For starters, I am attending with NEM531M, and staying at the White Hart in Ford Friday/Saturday night.

Tim Wilkes (TRW99) is coordinating marking out the dedicated +2 parking area arriving early on the Saturday morning. I'm pretty sure he has roped me in to arrive early with stakes and string to assist.
The type 14 also has an anniversary this year (60 years) and HLR incorporating Club Elite have promised a big attendance, so it's important that we don't let our +2's get overshadowed by the admittedly pretty Elites.
There are always a large number of Elans and +2's at Castle Combe, it would be really good to see at least 50 type 50's in one place and this would ensure that we get a +2 only lunchtime parade on track.
The annual Club Lotus track day meeting at Castle Combe is always a great day out, it's totally free to attend, just turn up with your car and soak up the atmosphere and enjoy the friendly crowd and the amazing cars.

The noise level concerns me a bit and no idea what 100db would sound like. I've got a TTR big bore exhaust but I have fitted an additional inline silencer so it is significantly quiter than it was. Any views?
Dougal.

100dB is very loud & you would be certain to know about this in road use.
I have a full TTR big bore free flow system fitted (manifold to end pipe - single silencer) & it normally sound tests at just under 98dB in the standard MSA test at all events (this is a lot quieter than 100dB - much more than the relative figures suggest - it's a logarithmic calculated measure of pressure)
There is also supposed to be a drive by measuring device in action on the pit lane wall, but if you pass the static test then this should not be a problem.
The sound test guys at Castle Combe tend to be very accommodating for these Club track days, & even if you marginally fail the test, you will probably be told to drive around the paddock to get the engine really warmed up, then have another go.
Hope that this helps.

Dougal,
You may possibly need a silencer extension can, I will bring at least one with me that you can borrow, my +2 Zetec produces around 102DB at 4000rpm which is the revs they test at for noise, fitting the extension reduces the noise to around 97DB. If you fail noise testing just look out for me and I should be able to help.
Kindest regards
