PostPost by: Mjnboys » Sat Oct 11, 2014 2:29 pm

Hi

My tachometer doesn't seem to work, it has a live feed and is well earthed, but not movement..has anyone got any ideas or come across this before, it is the early 69 plus 2 dash, Chrome window switches.

I am trying to upload a few photos but not having much sucess yet.

Thank you

Oh and my dashboard lights are really dull, the ignition light is hardly visible, not sure if this is connected to the tachometer problem

Thanks

At first glance look like the usual earth problem, you may measure a good earth but when you try to pass current through it that's another matter...

Hi again Dave,
If the earthing doesn't cure it, are you running electronic ignition?
The early type tachometers (RVI) tend not to play nicely when there's electronic ignition fitted. If you're handy with a soldering iron there's a thread somewhere here on how to convert to RVC type, or you could send it away to a well known instrument repair company for the conversion.

Cheers,
Ron
