Slides With Balls?
My father bought a Fiat 850 coupe, new, in 1967, pre-smog as we say here in the states. It lasted more than 100,000 miles. He and his friends refered to it as a Tuesday afternoon car, ie; the best?time to have a car built..... what's a Friday afternoon car (I hate to ask) does it involve beers?

in the old days lunch was unpaid so you could leave the plant and hustle to the nearest pub [in our case the pheasant or as locally known the duck] and have a few beers with lunch or in some cases instead of lunch-- Friday beginning the weekend was celebrated with great vigor ---the resulting parts produced on Friday afternoon were ------shall we say occasionally suspect ---ed [ but this is verboten now ]

The Friday afternoon car has long been a thing of the past at Lotus, not because they have better quality control but for the simple reason - the factory now shuts at about noon. So the car to be wary of now is the Friday morning car

For an example of a Friday afternoon part, see 'Spot the Problem' photo in my gallery..... This must have caused problems from day one, even the engine assemblers must have spotted it, but the engine was probably assembled on Friday afternoon as well!
