Looking for a Plus 2

Hello All,
I've just persuaded my wife that she can no longer live without a Plus 2 and it is what she has always wanted for Christmas - I've shown her a few pictures and, to my complete surprise, she agrees! My problem now is finding one. I have seen mint examples for anything up to ?15k (dealers) which seems a tad expensive. Does anyone know of a clean pre '73 example (preferably with replacement chassis, good runner etc.) for around ?5-?6k?
Thanks
Jon

Jon,
I don't know anything about this car (or have any link with the vendor for that matter), but I came across this the other day :
http://www.cresswellclassics.com/?Page= ... ID=GRB214H
See also the other thread about +2 prices :

Best you go and see as many as possible before you find your (wife's) dream !

Ive seen the car at creswell classics and to be honest.......?3-4 k is about all its worth......the chrome was gone the interior had been at the bottom of a lake (well judging by the state of everything it all had!!)...
I ran like a bag of spanners half the electrics worked and to be honest Ive got one half way through a rebuild thats in better overall condition.....
the car really did stink inside.....
must have been left outside leaking for years!!!!
I'd still go and have a look just to get your eye in!!!! it blooming hard to find too......many tiny single lane tracks to a chicken shed by manchester airports runway......you can see the planes from the runway but I was amazed when I went on holiday and could see the place from the plane!!!
its literally next to the fence about level with concorde but on the other side of the runway!!!...thats presuming you know manchester airport!!
cheers

Oh come on Garath, tell us what you really think! are you hinting that is not an accurate discription

I think the ammount of money (a couple of ?? here and there probably) had been spent on the car prioir to it being layed up although when I asked to have a look at the history and bills etc he could seem to find them!!

Hi
I bought my +2 from ebay, but the owner before me bought it from Mick Miller. I know Mick is no longer with us but his wife Sue is still carrying on the business selling parts. It is worth giving her a ring and asking if she knows of any for sale.
My one is a 1968 model and I paid ?4,500, but it needs paint. I would suggest you get one with good paintwork as I have been told it will cost upto ?5,000 to repaint the body!!
You can contact Susan Miller on: 01728 603307 and she is based in Saxmundham in Suffolk.
If you really want to spend some serious money then try Paul Matty:
http://www.paulmattysportscars.co.uk/de ... .asp&nav=p
Click on the clink above, it is a car he has for sale at ?4,750
He has another for: ?17,950
Hope this helps

And if you do get one with good paint, make sure it's not recent paint just masking future(expensive)problems

ah the old paint question.....
I'd work on new paint every 5 years as there is nobody who is able to give you anything better...it depends on what youve got underneath...I'd happily spen ?1000 every 3 years rather than ?5000 for something you dont know the life span of!!!!!
?1000 every 3 years is 15 years of ?5000 a go at who knows what!!!!....
just my thoughts!!!!
cheers

Dear All,
Have seen a few cars but went up to Paul Matty's last week to look at the cheaper one (see Jason1's post), a 1972 130/5. To cut a long story short I'm picking her up on Thursday, I'll be the cars second owner .
Thanks for all your help and advice
