I am not a purist but 2 questions:
1. Why would anyone do this in the first place?
2. Why would anyone bid on this?
The chances are the extra bits are bonded onto the body so when you take them off the body is going to need a huge amount of work. The seller has removed the engine, gearbox and diff, all that is left that I can see in the pictures that is worth anything is the chassis. I think I would rather spend ?1500 and buy a new one from Spyder.

Very very nice!........a modifiers dream! now where can I get a 500hp engine and 10speed gearbox.......Oh and if I win it what color should I paint it?....and what tyres .....and what diff....and....
ps: I'm sure Colin would approve....obviously its the next logical step in the Elan evolution!

The guy who did the work probably thought it looked just perfect...far better than the original.....and yet nobody else seems to love it.

Maybe an attempt to be a 1980 iMSA car .There is no limit to bad taste . Perhaps the 26Rnumber one And keep your pants on Elanfan. e

Why would anyone want this ???
Perhaps some very unscrupulous person might transfer the chassis plate and logbook to another late model Plus 2 so they could avoid paying UK road tax.
Having said that however, I can't really imagine anyone would be that dishonest
