My +2 Has to go.

All,
My +2 has to go (+2S 130/4, 1971 - Old English White with a Silver roof). The question is:
It has been sat in my garage (in the UK) for the last two years (not enough time to use it), it was originally started every week, but not started for the last 6 months (battery on a trickle charger). It currently does not have an MOT. I would be looking to sell it within the next 2 weeks.
What would a rough value be as it stands?
It originally came from Paul Matty's about 4 years ago. Done 35k miles, believed to be original according to PM's. New chassis, original chrome wheels.
Thanks
Richard

The value is entirely dependent on condition, Richard. If the car doesn't have an MOT and doesn't start, then most will fear the worst, and bid up to breaking value....?3k ish. If you get it running, and get an MOT, you'll attract a whole new market. If the paintwork and interior is good (without being perfect), the engine sounds good and there are no major faults, you could be looking at somewhere around ?6k to ?10k.
If you haven't got the time, it would surely be worth getting the local garage to pick it up, get it running and get it on the road. For a few hundred pounds, you may get a much better return.
If you don't want to do that, I'll buy it sight unseen for ?3k!!

Sad times! Parting with an Elan is never easy...
I too would be interested in your car and will transport it.
Please call 07700 348773 if you would like to discuss.
Thanks,
John

My derisory offer was to spur Richard on to get the car working before trying to sell!
Another thought, Richard. You could try and see if Paul Matty is interested in taking it back. He?s a very fair bloke in my experience?of course he?ll want to make a turn

Aw c'mon Jason ... do you really like that pink leather ?
Ha, I think I would say the leather was red.
I prefer the original early cars but if I was in the market for a Spyder conversion, this is a good colour and looks like a nice car. I think Spyder cars have there place if you do not have the time or skills for original cars, you can own a beautiful classic car without the hassle. There are lots of posts on here 'Spyder V's Original'
