PostPost by: rocket » Sun Jul 13, 2008 2:02 pm

Had my rear seat back out this morning to clean and behind it is a steel rail held in place by 2 nuts..what does it do? 1 nut has undone itself how do i get behind it to do back up? The rail is 2/3 of way up petrol tank..is it to hold this in place?

Cheers

Ian.

The 2 bolts are threaded into the chassis so access to the rear isn't needed to tighten them. Best to take them out, copperslip them and put them back nice and tight.

I suppose you could say the bar acts as a 'strut brace' and would also act to stop the petrol tank moving forwards in the event of an accident.

I suppose it would stop the petrol tank moving forward with a +2 but I think it is more to do with ridgity cross bracing the rear turrets and strengthening the chassis and seat belt mountings.
