+2S

PostPost by: lotuselanman » Mon Nov 26, 2007 6:53 pm

Gidday,
We have owned our car for a few years now, unfortunately it has been off the road for far to long due to other commitments. That is about to be changed.
The chassis # is 0053M. I assume this puts it as an early car. Is there a +2 register or does anybody have access to ID's to give me a bit of original history of the car such as build date and if it was exported immediately?
I live in Australia and am aware of its recent history.
Thanks,
Les.

Chris Brown the archivist at Lotus will be able to give you some info.

I'll dig out his email address later if someone here doesn't beat me to it.

:D :D :D :D :D

Gidday,
Thanks for the helpful replies and the 'E' address.
I contacted CB and he cofirmed the matching engine an chassis numbers as well as the build date.
My chassis # ends in M denoting an export car.
It was sold in primer.
Geoghegan's the Australian importer at that time were shown as the purchaser, they imported several cars in Primer.
So I am a happy chappy !!
In the SCW archive there is a category marked 'N', followed by several digets. Any idea what this denote ?
Thanks again,
Les.

"N" denotes a Federal (meaning U.S. market) +2S. Either the Service Manual or Service Parts List (perhaps both) has a section explaining the alpha codes.

Hi Les

Nice to hear there's another +2 soon to be hitting the road in Aus.

My +2 was also imported by Geoghegans - C/No 50/1035 built in September 1968.

I'm in Sydney and it seems nobody has a clue what my car is until they read the badge - there aren't many +2s around.

Good luck with your resto.

Regards
Stuart - Sydney

Stuart,

The +2 I looked at earlier in the year was in avalon which is not that far from you as I thought you lived in the northern beaches area this was a early 68 car in red, I guess you haven't crossed paths yet

Hi Rohan.

Thanks for info. re this site.

I tried to register my +2, chassis 50/0173, but it appears to have failed.
Will check later today and try again to submit the data.

Rohan.

Correction.

The "submit" button generated an e-mail that contained my data.
I have now "sent" this, so hopefully this will now get logged onto the site.

Hi Les,

I live in Adelaide and have chassis number 100
It appears that there are a few early Lotus + 2 in Australia.

Hopefuly mine will be back on the road at Christmas after 12 month re build.

When you ask around it is suprisisng on how many + 2 are "in the shed" waiting to be restored.

Perhaps we should start a register for Aussie cars, this would interesting??

Darren
