Found this on the New Zealand trade me auction site
Chassis no is 50/0192
Appears to have later model rear tail lights so perhaps not a 1967 model?

Car looks to be good value for local market if as described

Jason,
That is very precise any idea if it was morning or afternoon
Seriously that date makes sense as according to the Autocar Elan +2 introduction article dated September 1967 which states that Lotus had the ability to make 20 +2's a week that would make around 80 a month and you would expect to be into the 200's by November
As far as the tail lights go, does any one know when the Alpha ones were phased out ?

50/0178 had 'Revised Rear Lamp Assemblies', according to the Robinshaw / Ross book. And before that, at 50/0170 it had a revised windscreen, which is a bit of a worry...what the hec was it before 0170?
Only 3 other improvements before that back to the first car, and they were just tweeks
I just dragged the body of 50/0032 back home this afternoon from its 30 year slumber, and it looks like the lamp mouldings on the rear are different to accomodate the lamps...I'll have a closer look in the morning. I hope the Alfa light lenses are available as I've got a great big crack in one. And what was the original windscreen???!!!

Maybe a different type of glass?
My not so early '69 has it's original windscreen which says "FoMoCo" at the top center, I believe they're all from a Capri and slightly tilted lower than on the Capri.
I find it totally fascinating that the front bumper and windscreen determined our beloved +2's external dimensions.

And don't forget the front grille chrome surround from an Anglia Van and the rear bumper from a Riley Elf. I won't count the Austin 1100 door handles as they didn't really have to fit much of a shape...but I bet the Elf bumper and the Anglia grille surround had some influence. So here are the three design inspirations...Hmmmmm.

As far as styling influences go don't forget the original tail lamps, which inspired the designer after following a Alpha into a roundabout, its interesting that in a short time of about 2 to 3 months they changed over to the Lucas ones I wonder what happened, was it because of supply problems or maybe the Lucas units were not ready in time for intial production
Also as far as the windsceens go I understand that all +2's use the same type the only changes were to the rubbers, surounds and windscreen openings during production
With all these questions its about time for a dedicated book covering the +2
