Lotus in Australia?

PostPost by: 68+2 » Tue Feb 14, 2006 8:50 am

Hi all.... I'm living in the UK at present, and love my '68 +2 in spite of all the grief. However, I will be making a permanent move to Australia (NSW)in a few months, and wondered if there are many +2's over there, wether it's worth shipping my own etc....
In general, if you are in Australia and a Lotus owner I'd like to hear from you!

thanks.

Lotus in Australia is very much alive & well. Bring your +2 we need them all. Lotus club NSW is a great gathering of like minded lovers of these cars.

The price of a Lotus in Australia is generally comparable to the cost in the Uk plus the freight and duty to bring to Australia. If you dont do your own maintenance then finding a good place is not as easy as in the UK but still doable. General Parts availability is good as lots of cars that used the same parts were sold in Australia by Leyland and Ford plus places like Twin Cam Services and Elan Factory for the specialist Lotus stuff.

Bring it out! The local Lotus community is strong and with a bit of help you'll find service and parts readily available.

Where in NSW do you expect to settle?

Hi,
I live in Adelaide and have a 1967 (50/0100) 2 + 2 and love it.
When you come over pack the boot full of spares, you will find a market for the here in Australia!!!

Hi,
I own a 72 +2 and have just received our permanent residency Visa from Australia. I would be interested to know how much it would cost to transport the car to Aus, as I am loathed to part with it after spending the last 4 years rebuilding it. I have no definite plans on where to live in Australia, just wherever I can find a job really. Be over in June to check it out!!
Regards
Jeff
