Thought for the day

Jon
- I relate to your experiences, my first Plus 2 (owned back in the 80s in the UK) required a minimum of a couple of hours TLC/Preventative Maintenance every weekend in order to guarantee its reliable performance as a daily driver for the following week.
- The new one isn't expected to perform at the same level of reliability, so it's not getting the level of TLC, plus we are in Nebraska with an unheated garage!
However, the end result is the same, great satisfaction and enjoyment !

Jon

If your worried about your paint you should see mine. I have no sagging door cards because i have no door cards. Seats are ok tho i think. My dash is almost falling out and waiting for TLC to put right. Im happy that in 10 years of ownership its dry, honestly doesnt leak any oil.
But good news is nights will be lighter and as summer aproaches us i may get to do some work on her. Engine sounds great tho which always reminds me of how much fun it is to drive.

No, I'm not worried by the paintwork. It's a pity that whoever resprayed it didn't do a better job, and it's a pity the PO didn't insist a better job was done, but it is just good enough to buff up well - if you don't look too closely at it.

Maybe I'm a perfectionist... but I expect once it is in regular use on some sunny days, the paint won't matter so much. You'll no doubt be aware that I'm more interested in the mechanical aspects of the car, anyway. I've said before that my priorities are a) sort the handling out, b) sort the oil leaks out, c) sort the interior out, d) improve the electrics. All while having it driveable, so a "rolling restoration" sort of thing.

One day I will have a hoist and the time to restore it properly!

Thanks Paul, I have a crane already. Haven't got a load leveller, though.. but I won't be tackling the engine for a while, I think. I need a nice summer with the car first.

Gosport? Just along the coast from me.

Well, thanks to the torrential rain encountered on the Peterborough trip, she's filthy again. Sigh.
