"Special Equipment" with 118 Bhp (around 120cv) was the base, the standard model ?
(for Elan+2 normal and Elan+2 S).
Is it good ?
And after, there are had, from March 68, Federal models with 108 Bhp (around 110CV).
Why "special" ?, "Standard Equipment" was more adapted ...
Website http://lotuselan-plus2.be/trevorsparrow ... n_main.htm :

And finally, I have G letter mon my serial numbers plate. What does it mean G, why not F ....
(for Elan+2 normal and Elan+2 S).

The following is from the introduction in the parts manual (thanks to Ray at rdent.com)
INTRODUCTION
This publication contains all assemblies and parts sold as spares; it enables one to determine with precision their Part Numbers and to identify them from the illustrations.
Vehicle Chassis Number - The method of identifying a vehicle, whether Component-Built or Fully-Built, is by use of the Vehicle Chassis Number which is comprised of code numbers as shown below. The Vehicle Chassis Number will be found stamped on a plate which is fixed to the left-hand side of the engine bulkhead.
50/01234
'50' = Vehicle Type = Elan +2
'01234' = Chassis Number
As from January, 1970 vehicle identification will be in the following form: -
7001.010001A Both chassis and body numbers being the same.
7001. Represents year and month of manufacture.
01 Represents the production batch.
0001 Represents the unit (chassis) number.
A Represents the model code.
Chassis Change Points:
50/0001 Model introduced Sept. 1967
50/0857 Federalised body to U.S.A. Mar. 1968
50/0929 Federalised body to Other Territories Apr. 1968
50/1280 Zenith-Stromberg carburetters in Territories other than Federal Dec. 1968
50/1593 'S' type introduced Mar. 1969
50/2447 Federal 'S' type introduced Nov. 1969
'S 130' type introduced to U.K. Jan. 1971
As there are sixteen different model types within our present production control, the following codes will be used for correct model identification: -
Elan Standard Fixed Head Great Britain & Northern Ireland A
Elan Standard Fixed Head Export B
Elan Standard Drop Head Great Britain & Northern Ireland C
Elan Standard Drop Head Export D
Elan Special Equip. Fixed Head Great Britain & Northern Ireland E
Elan Special Equip. Fixed Head Export F
Elan Special Equip. Drop Head Great Britain & Northern Ireland G
Elan Special Equip. Drop Head Export H
Elan Federal Fixed Head Export J
Elan Federal Drop Head Export K
Elan + 2 'S' Type Great Britain & Northern Ireland L
Elan ? 2 'S' Type Export M
Elan + 2 'S' Type Federal Export N
Europa Standard Great Britain & Northern Ireland P
Europa Standard Export Q
Europa Federal Export R
Hope that helps, although it doesn't explain your G suffix.

I really don't know what you are trying to get across
your car is not a federal car
Federal cars have Strombergs, different head
what is your question?

I thought my car was Federal, with 108 Bhp engine, from 1969.
So, with all your informations, I realize that I did mistakes :
- not a Federal but a Standard,
- not a 108Bhp but 118,
- not 69' but 67',
Thanks a lot four your help !
With all informations, I undertsand that there is not difference between Elan Standard A (Great Britain & Northern Ireland) and Elan Standard B (Export), until chassis number 50/0857 (March 68).
It was the same car, that's it ! it is very important for me to have this confirmation, because I have to register it now in France, and in this case, I could ask to Lotus a Certificate of Conformity, or Attestation similar, because at this time there was only a Standard Elan, without difference between US et EU.
If my car was Federal, with a different engine that EU, all would change !!, so it will be very very hard to register it in France (because no car equivalent already registered/tested in France)

That depends on whether you want carte grise normal or collection. With carte grise collection it is very easy.
If like me you go for carte crise collection an attestation from lotus is not needed but it's nice to have in the paperwork for the car.
What you choose is a personal choice. The first +2 ?lans registered in France were like your's and registered by "Royale ?lys?e" in Paris.

And that top left gauge is a Stewart-Warner; not original. Another gauge has a black rim, so also not original. The front park lens being all amber is not a good indicator, as 2 easy screws each and they're off. If one got damaged in service and amber was all that was available, of course you'd replace the pair or they might have just been updated to make the car look "newer".
