VINs, Engine Numbers etc...

Hi all. I know this is some years on, but the relevance of the conversation remains. 50/1068 - verified by Andy Graham as an Oct 1968 build has a Norwich Plate. The number is 'Blunt nail' engraved (as Rohan puts it), with a faint 50 followed by a legible 1068. No apparent engine number inscription, although Andy was also able to provide the engine number (which is still correct with the car). Pain code included bottom RH but not legible (at least I have no idea what it says)
My attention was drawn to the fact you've discussed the removal of some Diff oil recommendations. Mine also has these removed - but the Oil companies are in a different order. Early Norwich as shown on 50/0328 is; Esso / Shell / Castrol / BP / Mobil - whilst 50/1068 Norwich plate shows them in the order; Mobil / Esso / Shell / Castrol / BP. Both examples show the part no# 36B1135 Top RH corner.

My car is a 1968 S4 coupe, the VIN plate is effectively illegible. Are new VIN plates available?
