Re-visit my youth

This is a bit of a strange post.
Nearly fifty years ago I had the best car of my life - a 1968 Elan Plus 2. I can still remember my first drive which was a stunning experience (even after a Lotus Cortina).
I am very tempted to acquire another one, but I need to find out whether I have lost the flexibility to get in and out of the car (I'm 6ft 1in tall, so a certain amount of "folding" is necessary.
Would any Forum member live within a short distance of West London and be happy for me to visit, just to sit in their car?
Best regards, Stephen

Hi Stephen
Welcome to the board. I'm in Fleet, Hants just off junction 4A of the M3. My Plus 2 is in the garage having a rewire ATM, but is still accessible and most of the relevant interior is in so you are welcome to come and try it out. If you want to trundle down into the sticks, then post a reply and I'll PM you from the board with my contact details.

I am 6 foot 3 inches with two replacement knees, but have no trouble getting into my +2! It wraps around you in a driver extension sort of way, and it doesn't feel claustrophobic.
Hopefully you will find it the same as was way back when....

Welcome Stephen!
I'm 6'4", 280 lbs, 34" inseam and big in the hips, and I find the Plus 2 to be quite manageable. The door-opening isn't very tall but it has enough length to make up for that and I have no trouble. I do have the seat in the rearmost position, but I find the interiour space to be MUCH better than in the Turbo Esprit that I had before.
