my +2 130 project

Here I will share with you my project :

This is a LHD +2 130 1972' from portugal, imported to france in 1990 and still in project for 30 years...
Frame and engine are brand new but all other parts need work

I've just bougth the car last week and starting working on it

first I'm working to restart it and put it on the road with french MOT

In second time I'll dismantle and respray it

I think I will need you'r help !

(sorry for english approximative translation...)

looks good but paint is badely made and colours' not my cup of tea







interior need a little bit of work ,



wiring loom need attention (if anybody has a wiring diagram...it will be very interesting to me ! )



under boot is free...if anybody has photos of what it should be finished (is it a frame for trim panels ?)



if somewone telle me the first thing I had to do on a fiberglass car was to weld something ....
boot retainer repair :




and here I'm not sure how the window seal comes :

Salut Mini90, Enchante a faire votre Elan (Excuse my French!!). Great to see the pictures, looks like you have taken on an interesting project.

This forum is excellent and will be a place you visit often, everything has been done in different ways and if you search the subject you are working on you will find the info. on the forum.

Someone might be able to direct you to a wiring diagram on the forum, but in the meantime I will check if I have the wiring diagram and will try to scan it for you (I should have it in the manual).

Here is the update of last busy weekend !

heater full rebuilt, it was not in so bad condition but with dashbord removed , it's easier to do it

sand blasting, primer and paint , and heater motor control (2 speeds)











new home made parts for underdash trim













dash gauges restoration with polytrol







new side fitting dashboards plates (home made)



and 1st parts received...

Wow, good job! You have made a really nice fabrication there. You can hopefully find the plastic knobs that fit on the end of the steel lever. Keep a watch on e-bay or perhaps SJ Sportscars can supply them? The Original part number is 050B6078. SJ Sportscars list them for sale on their website at £3.91 each.

some little news:

pedal box rebuilt, because of rust and missing parts : I hadden't got the handbrake bracket, I made it helping with part manuel pictures
I also made an acces to clevis pins and bracket for relays










bonnet locks systems have been sand blasted and resprays
i made new 3D printed angle parts instead of old wood parts




home made bonnet cable bracket


and for the dash , it's done too and ready to come back in the car :

Great progress. I like the 3-D printed bonnet catch supports, its a much nicer solution than the blocks of wood!!

some little work again ...
dashborad is back on the car, I made some allow caps for seatbelts holes in rear cards
...some sandblasting and painting job for radiator and brackets ...





and I made the miata mx5 headlamp motor conversion basing photos i found on the forum !
I draught the frame drawing on a 5mm checkered paper if someone need to do the same
I used a gaz pressure cylinder instead of M8 threaded shaft
the cylinder disengage the motor action if headlamps don't want to be lifted







the motor rod has been modified in order to adjust the stroke
I have welded an extension part on it

Very nice work! I guess you have used the gas strut in case the motor tries to lift the headlight but something is blocking it? Good idea.

The aluminum seat belt guides look good, my car is fitted with plastic guides from another car (don't know which one!).

It will be great to see the finished car. Keep up the good work.
