A year after it went to the paint shop for a ?3 month? paint job it?s done.

Congratulations! I know that experience very personally.......my Europa went to the paint shop for a 6 month strip, fix and paint that took 18 months. But the results where worth it!

Yes and now I can spend loads more money on a complete re-trim. But it?s nice to see it with paint having done a significant amount of body repairs including a new front end prior to sending it off for final prep and painting.

Great colour. Out of interest did you send it to the paint shop on the chassis? I am approaching the paint stage myself and pondering whether to send the body on a dolly or on the chassis. Pro's and con's for both. Any advice gratefully received.

It was on the rebuilt chassis, so the paint shop had firm instructions to get no overspray on the chassis, suspension etc. I have the risk of potential damage to the paintwork when I put the engine back in, would dropping a body onto a chassis be more risky? I think I prefer the route I took.

Took mine on a pallet on a flat bed trailer. Next door to the paint shop was a engineering unit with a fork lift. They lifted shell off the trailer, once off he used a pallet truck to move it around the paint shop. Saved the painter loads of time as well as giving him room to paint the front and rear undersides as he had a hi-lift pallet truck. Once it was finished (6 months) we reversed the procedure, no overspray, doddle to fit shell back on chassis.

Looks really nice in red, that colour was on my shortlist.

Ford Burgundy red, its used on Mustangs, it's available in rattle cans from Halfords, which was a big decider in what colour to use.
