Plus 2 basket case

Gents
I am trying to workout what to do with my Plus 2. It is a 68 car completely stripped.
So would I get more money selling as parts or the whole thing?
The body need work
Engine stripped and very good (weber)
Interior has seats and centre console - front seats are not original but the high back US version
Dash is original straight grain not walnut - never heard of another one of these but it is original
How much is a basket case worth?
How much without engine?
How much for title?
I would like to keep it but have to face reality - I have a single garage an S4 and a Plus 2 so just do not have the room or the time look after 2 cars.
Plus 2 prices vary by an incredible amount so an engine might be 3 to 4k and trim might also be good but whole cars can sell for not much more - doesn't cover the cost of a respray!
Thanks for any comments

Not sure about the current market but you may do well selling to someone who wants to build a Zetec car and then sell off the valuable +2 parts.
Of course the ideal is to find someone who wants a project.........

do you still have the V5 ? if so i'd sell all together.
selling the parts is a lot of hassle and folk only pay good money for good quality secondhand stuff ... unless you have something quite rare, like the moustache , or the original rear bumper .
body shells etc are still cheap 'cos they always need a lot of work.
put some pictures up and we'll give you a better idea ...

Steve, the moustache is the three sided chrome trim piece that surrounds the cold air inlet / grille. They are apparently available as an aftermarket piece now. Can?t speak to the relative quality compared to the original. I prefer the look with it off, but to each his own. The fibreglass is susceptible to chipping with the chrome trim off though.
I would really consider selling as a whole car as well. The key is to have very complete pictures of all the available parts. That way a prospective buyer can see what they may need to find to complete the project. If the engine is apart try to have measurements available of critical stuff that demonstrates it can be rebuilt.
You may find this link interesting. This project / basket case car was recently sold by List Member Ross Robbins on BaT. The comments might provide an insight as to what a serious prospective buyer may be wanting to know (and I guess what folks that won?t be buyers think as well).

Best of luck with the sale. Hopefully it can find a good home and be put back on the road.

Steve,
If you look at Stu's "Bring a trailer" link, and in particular the photos showing components laid out, you can see the two piece "L" shaped chrome moustache. It is above the blue airbox and a piece to each side of the blue air horns.

Thanks for replies
I have to admit I want to sell as a whole car as far two many have ended up being broken up, but on the other side I still want the money! that is really the crux of it.
I think it is a good idea to start taking photos of individual bits - I already have photos of whole car.
I also have another TwinCam engine for sale - just need to get it all together.
The car is in Dorridge Solihull.
Thanks again

I have a white 74 plus 2. Body is ok but needs a little tlc. No engine or box. 8 dials dash. I had it in the for sale section, not a sniff. Ive seen worse cases go for 3k to 5k on flee bay,
I guess its worth and what you get are 2 different things.

I paid ?3,750 for this one. Lotus replacement chassis in great condition, and the original engine. A totally complete and original car, having been garaged for 27 years.
I bought it from an advert here.
If you want money Steve, you have no choice. You'll have to part it out. There's little value in a project Plus 2 that needs a total rebuild.
Where, then, lies the answer? In choice. Which shall it be: bankruptcy of purse or bankruptcy of life?

I had a big reality check. No one wanted my beloved yellow one. Its running a fuel injected twink with a few mods,4speed. Missing a few bits of originality and needs a bit of tlc,but its MOTd and running.
Not a single enquirey, nothing.
