+2 fuel filler cap

PostPost by: alanpearl » Sat Apr 08, 2017 3:30 pm

Hi,
Can anyone help with how to change the fuel filler cap on a +2?
I was expecting simply to drift a pin out, but if there is a pin in there it must be hollow, as the allen key I was using as a drift went straight through. Any suggestions?
Thanks
Al

Al, I think it's a roll pin which is hollow. I tend to hit it with a suitably sized drill bit, (blunt end) and expect to sharpen it afterwards
Failing that, a proper drift

Thanks guys. Think I might have a punch somewhere. If not, drill bit it is!

I snapped the end off a cheap screwdriver and the shaft made a perfect sized punch, only pain was trying to hold the cap as I don't have a vice

Out of interest I spent lots of time ringing around Triumph parts suppliers trying to find a new seal with no luck.

Then found that SJ Sportscars sell the seals very cheaply .
