Looks like I'll be waiting a little longer for my two million quid supercar......

That's interesting.

Compare and contrast with the "Lotus is moving upmarket" thread. Looks like it isn't going too well for them.

"A spokesman for the Norfolk-headquartered carmaker, which is owned by China’s Geely, said the job losses were necessary to create a “leaner and more competitive” company."

I cannot think how this improves competitiveness in the market, only current expense, and may not help preserve worker goodwill should Lotus want them back.

I suspect the "talent" to do the SUV.....you know, pick and choose the existing Geely componetry, maybe a styling-cue or two, slap the Lotus badge on it, and presto, you got your "High-end, Lifestyle Brand".....

I am sooo not encouraged.....

Probably true of where the actual work gets done, i.e. the factory floor.
However, when you get into the ranks of management, the tendency is to get rid of the talent, because they may be after your job.....
It's the old story, in the Kingdom of the blind, the one eyed man is King.

For those few of you who either didn't notice, or weren't aware, the original link was a way of getting, ( usually), around pay walls.

Just copy, into the appropriate place, the link that took you to part of the story, before it cut off and told you to "subscribe".

That’s not necessarily true - unless of course you are defining “thickies” as those that can’t understand politics and the talented guys as those who can!
