"London (CNN)British actress Diana Rigg, whose decades-long acting career spanned 1960s spy series "The Avengers," classical theater and "Game of Thrones," has died aged 82.
"It is with tremendous sadness that we announce that Dame Diana Rigg died peacefully early this morning," her agent Simon Beresford said in a statement, PA Media reports. "She was at home with her family who have asked for privacy at this difficult time."
Her daughter Rachael Stirling said her mother died peacefully in her sleep after she was diagnosed with cancer in March, according to PA. "I will miss her beyond words," Stirling said."

Seeing her in her Elan in the Avengers is what got me into Elans back in the 1960s.
RIP a very fine actress and dear old Dame.

Sad news indeed. I as well, at the impressionable age of 12, was smitten with her as Emma Peel and by extension fell in love with the Elan. Back in the early 70's while youth hosteling around England, I had the good fortune to see Ms. Rigg perform in a Shakespeare play in London from the center of the fourth row from the stage. Thrilling.

I believe you may be right. There was a post long ago where an Elan enthusiast met her and spoke about the Elan she drove in the show. She remarked "it was just a prop."
There is no cure for Lotus, only treatment.

I'm sure someone has a better version of this but the way I was led to believe it was as follows.......
When Dianna Rigg was given the part of Emma Peel, she couldn't actually drive and quickly had lessons/learnt how to drive it in the show. I don't think, as has been said earlier, that she actually liked the car that much and when she left the show, a little time later, Lotus gave her the car as a sort of "thank you"......I don't think she kept it very long and eventually gave it away to one of her girlfriends.
It's funny because the Elan & Emma seemed such a perfect combination.....

I've no idea but I wouldn't be at all surprised to find there's more of them now than there were then ...
I was only wondering about the fate of some well known telly cars earlier when I ran past my local antiques centre and saw 'Del and Rodders's' Reliant on display in the courtyard. Surely that can't be the original, tucked away in some Oxfordshire backwater? How much is an old Reliant, some yellow paint and a few stencils anyway? An homage, not a copy, I'm sure.

I just watched an old Avengers episode this morning as an antidote to the terminally depressing news we are continuously delivered these days.
It was the one where Tara King replaces her at the end. Christ she (Emma/Diana) was a complete stunner back in the day!! Hard to belive she has gone

As it happens Diana Rigg was not the first choice for the role. That was a woman called Elizabeth ??? She only lasted a couple of episodes and was replaced before any were aired. Allegedly!
