Hope the drivers and passengers OK.

What caused that and how come two windscreens?

Hopefully fixable.

Cheers

Oh dear!
How very sad to see what must have been a nasty incident and obviously very upsetting. Your friend was very lucky to walk away without any injuries. The car can always be replaced!

Oh no. Glad nobody hurt. As others have said the car can be rebuilt.

Spent a couple of fun days building up the head for my new race engine,, yes I do enjoy this :). As alway some minor issues. Valve stem tip length sbove the groove 20 thou to long on the exhaust valves so had to get them out and ground back to the standard 0.010 inch from 0.012 inch. Fortunately my local head specialist did it while I waited in a few minutes and charged me nothing ... perfect :) If your in Melbourne Head Stud Developments are the place for Twincam cylinder head specialist machine work.

This build is using QED red race springs with Tony Ingram titanium retainers. QED only supply steel retainers suitable for top hat shims which I dont like, but the Tony Ingram retainers match and are suited to standard shims which I have whats needed in all sizes.

Getting the split collets into the retainers is a test of patience. Sometimes I can get a valve and spring pack installed in 2 minutes and sometimes it is 30 minutes  Generally the first is slowest and the last fastest as I improve with practice.

Head now shimmed to the top end of the range to within .001 inch but I know I will have to make some adjustments once its bolted on the block. I prefer to start the clearances at the top end of the tolerance as they close up by around 1 thou when the engine is run I find moving them to the middle

cheers

I changed out by lovely, weathered original windscreen washer pump for a far too shiny new one - which actually works!

How can I age the new one to look less shiny, I wonder? Tea bags, Coke, old oil?

Went to the Gold Cup at Oulton Park yesterday.
Nice to see this famous Elite, which I haven’t seen for a few years.

Didn't it catch fire at the Goodwood Members Meeting a few years ago?

Not sure if this was DADIO, but you are right about the fire:

If you look at https://www.goodwood.com/grr/event-cove ... e-at-73mm/ you can see both cars and it's clear that the 41 car isn't in fact DADIO as it doesn't have the stripe.

Fitted LED bulbs to the side lights and tail/brake lights.

(Don't worry, I kept the 'original' bulbs!)

That`s the way to go Tim. I did everything except the headlights and ignition lamp a while ago and have never looked back.
