We had a garage fire Sunday. The Lotus is fine as I was out driving it at the time. I lost my tools, bicycles, generators etc. and my Lotus workshop manual. I also lost the Lotus top and all of the supports, including the fiberglass sides. So I don't know if the fiber glass sides are available at all or the metal supports. Does anyone know? Also I have been tuning my Webers for 50 years with an old Unisyn (sic) I don't kow if this is available either but there must be some new hi tec device? Thanks.

Glad you and the Elan are safe. What a horror, my commiserations. I guess most of us have tools and implements that are special to us, either for sentimental or other reasons. We have several old gardening tools that were smoothed by grandparental hands and which are still in use.
I hope that you are able to find those hard to replace items in due course.

I'm sorry about the fire you had. At least you and your car were safe.
I really prefer the Synchrometer over the Unisyn. I think they are $40-50.

I think the fibreglass sides are called Cant Rails, they are available from the usual suppliers, but I can't find anyone selling the hood sticks, so you may have to search for those or beg for some to copy.
Bad luck with fire, but good luck you had the car out for a drive.
Hopefully an S1/S2 expert will stumble across this topic and confirm on the parts you need for your hood.

Hi Frank,
I'm in Columbus and perhaps I can be of some assistance. Send me an IM.
I sold the top off my project S2 back in 1978, but before it went, I traced the bows onto vellum. You are welcome to get a blueprint made from it. I also have shop manual and parts book you are welcome to photocopy. I keep a photocopy manual in my garage and the original in my den. Any other way I can help; let me know.
Sorry to hear of your misfortune.
