DVLA

At my last MOT the examiner wrote the chassis number down incorrectly on the pass certificate only one number out. This has resulted in a right carry on with the DVLA with them requesting photographs of a very old vin plate letters enquiring had I had a chassis change, how much of my car was kit built, did I use 2nd hand parts etc etc 3 months later I have had everything resolved. A simple human error which led to a lot of hassle. Several of the classic car press seem to think that Classic cars are being clamped down on. The DVLA ignored the fact that I had Lotus Archives history of the car I had the Q7(DVLA full history) and that the car has had the same registration from new

I had a similar problem with an old motorcycle. A misprint by the MOT man.
It took ages to sort out with DVLA.

I had a similar problem back in 1978 when I mistakenly informed DVLA that I had changed the chassis.

Took ages to resolve and involved taking the car on a trailer to an MOT office in Greenwhich High Street... Where the inspectors enthused over the car and cheerfully declared "that's a Subframe".
All happened the day before I was going to take my Elan to Ireland on holiday.

Blow me the whole issue recurred many years later when they computerised the MOT Certificate stuff.
