I'm very saddened by this news, but knowing well his condition, it was only a matter of time. A very short time that.

Over the last three years we regularly compared notes on our cancer conditions, and he was always horrified with the details of my treatment that I thought was easy to take. I always thought his treatment was much more difficult to take.......................so there you go, we disagreed to the end, but with good humor.

I've just deleted his name from my daily joke list................so now I know it's true.

My heart says RIP, John, but my head knows better...............RIP will be totally against his "grumpy" character.

Great shame, and sobering.

Thank you, Alan (the link on this page didn't work but the page 1 one did).

Hi Alan,

Just left a donation for for the bodger, the least that can be done for someone willing to share knowledge and experience with complete strangers (like me).

FYI, the second PayPal link on this page errored so used the original.

It's a sad day when we loose someone who brings to the party.....

Thanks Meg,
I have edited the link, and I think it works okay now.

I will post up the total amount raised on Thursday prior to John's funeral on Friday, all I can say at the moment is that I am stunned by the generosity of the members and I don't just mean the money donated.

Regards to all

Alan

Dear All,

Here is the card that will go with John's floral tributes, I trust that this meets with approval, I have had a sort of committee to help with it's wording from various members who knew him well.

Thank you for organising this Alan, and as so many have said, you cannot replace the irreverence and wit of someone like John - I'm sorry I never met him, but I hope he knew how many people he helped in so many ways.

RIP

I forgot that the cut off for the group donation was 19 February. However, Weston Hospicecare accepts donations via their website which I just did:
http://www.westonhospicecaregroup.org.uk
You are able to make a donation in memory of John Pelly. Alan, thanks again for keeping us informed and making arrangements for our tributes.
