Passed by Bromsgrove last Thursday & had to call in at Matty's; luckily Paul was around & gave me a nice tour of his cars for sale & the workshops. He has a beautiful white Sprint for sale...

He was also happy to show me his new Thames van which will be used to tow one of his cars to shows:

OMG .if it's the original engine spec etc he'll have difficulty pulling the skin off a rice pudding.
I remember when I was a teenager in late 70's driving one of these , with the 3 speed column change. what a larf when it rained and u accelerated (always had my foot to the floor them days ). the vacuum driven windscreen wipers would slow to nothing .....
later on my bro dropped a ford straight six with an autobox in and converted it to a pickup.
Apart from the engine noise , the only annoying thing was that the column change still operated the autobox and there really wasn't any gate system so you could select reverse all too easily when u didn't want to...

There is a lovely clip from the 1978 British GP. Colin is being interviewed, and behind him is a white Transit with "Norwich Van Rental" on the side.

Compare that to F1 now - no wonder it is so dull.
