MOT Fail

PostPost by: pauljones » Fri Apr 20, 2012 5:31 pm

Help required gentle men,

My plus 2 has just failed is annual test,

Handbrake not working on one wheel

Wiper blades need replacing

Passenger door not opening from the inside

Wiper switch needs replacing

Headlights go up and down with engine revs

Anyone got any ideas on fixing the light situation,It has all been stripped out for a re wire, could it be that a vacum/air line is put in wrongly? does anyone have instructions on correct routing?

The others i think are fairly simpleto fix

HELP HELP HELP so close yet so far

Paul

When you go for a retest I would suggest my MOT place but might be a bit far away.

They are completely legit but they understand too.
"Wiper blades need replacing" seesh.

As to the headlights you might want to check whether the vacuum pipes on the dash pull switch are the correct way around.
There is a right and a wrong way for all the pipes in the vacuum system and it sounds like the way you have it at present is not isolating the pods from manifold pressure.

Hi

My lights used to do that. I propped them up with 2 pencils for the MOT. It was a leak in one of the pods.

The handbrake is prob a seized pivot pin on the caliper. Try adjusting it first.

Door not opening could just be the rod popped off. You need to get the door card off and see what is happening.

I would say your car did pretty well; just a few little bits to look at.

Good luck

Duff non-return valve?

My S3 is booked in for Monday... At the moment it doesn't have any brakes, driveshafts, seats, fuel tank and I have 4 pages of to do list... You did well!
