Recommending a lotus specialist

Due to lack of time (and often skill!) I need to rely on specialists to do any work to my two elans. I live on the Wirral and have over the last 10 years used Paul Matty. I'm happy with their service but delivering the car to them and getting the train home and vice versa to collect is a pain.
Can anyone out there recommend someone in the Merseyside/Cheshire region who is good with the 'old elans'.
I think Christopher Neil is too much into the 'new stuff' and PNM engineering specialises in the Esprit.

Hi Gareth
Mike Pumford in Hoylake knows his Elans - he has an S4 Elan himself and a Europa. He is based on Carham Rd [off Carr Lane} 632 0002. Would be worth going and having a word about what you need doing. They also used to [and probably still] do a lot with TRs so know the older cars!

I have taken other cars there but not my Elan yet, but Pumfords in Hoylake are very helpful and friendly. They often have older cars there for work.
I noticed recently anothere firm 'North West Lotus' based on the Durley Drive industrial estate in Prenton. Does anyone know anything about them?
Ken.

I believe that North West Lotus was started up by someone who used to work with Pete Musgrove at PNM. Haven't heard of anyone who has used them yet.
We are getting quite spoilt for choice on the Wirral - and of course have Alan and Mark Voigts in Wallasey for any gearbox problems or even a 5 speed box!

Thanks for your responses. I will give them a visit.
I used to use PNM a lot during the nineties but had some bad experiences with Pete about 7 years ago which prompted the move to Matty's. I have found Roy and Paul very helpful -if only they were closer.
Best wishes

Yes I agree about Paul Mattys. They are brilliant as far as I am concerned, but the distance is a pain.
Are you aware that they will collect and return your car on a trailer? (at the customers cost of course)

I generally make a road trip out of my visits to Paul Mattys. I leave the Wirral at about 7am on a Saturday and go via the A41 and avoiding motorways. Traffic is light and the roads are good. Usually arrive at Matty's about 8:30 and Roy delivers me to Barnt Green station. Trip home by train involves changes at Birmingham and Liverpool and takes over 3 hrs.
When collecting the car they pick me up from the station, only the drive home is a bit later in the day and the traffic heavier. With 2 cars this is done twice a year, at MOT time. I don't mind this but if, like now, I need some minor 'fettling' -the Zetec +2 has minor wiring issues and the electric operated headlamps need adjusting- it would be handy to have someone more local.
