So that's Ron Hickman. Wow! He looks better with age. Did you happen to get any contact information from him? I'm sure many listers would welcome the opportunity to let him know how much they appreciate his creations. (I like my B&D Workmate too.)

Hi Frank,
I had a great chat with him and he was looking through my Mike Taylor book on the elan making comments, Thats wrong!! etc, he was a genuine character to talk too.
Ron gave me his business card with his contact details on, so not to abuse his privacy I will PM you a bit later with his email address.
Like many of us here I have also rebuilt my Elan + 2 using his "Workmate"
Cheers Darren

You managed to find a "Workmate" "Original" thats got to be worth a few bob?
Could be a collectors item like Chapman steering wheels
I've had the good fortune to have chatted to him at the Donington thingys.
A lovely man.
Last time I saw him he had a big plastic bag full of 1/18th scale Elans for his grandchildren etc..
A great little model by the way but can anybody do a fix for the horrible double curvature windscreen they put in?
Ooops I think that's what is called a hijack sorry
John
