I fitted an indicator buzzer - my auto return is a bit random and the indicator light isn’t that obvious tucked away in the speedometer I’ve been driving with one or other on. So four quid speaker from eBay and now I’ve got a loud beeper to remind me to cancel them

I went for my first drive this year in my +2.

After having replaced the dash complete with the new labels and also renewing the bush in the Sprocket chain tensioner.
Reset the cam timings and re balanced the Weber Carbs.

A good 35 mile run, engine needs a little fine tuning, but a great first drive.

In recent days, got horns installed, fuse relayed to a battery hot up front. Similarly wired up the Revotec pusher fan (may change for a sucker later). Mounted large TTR radiator. Cleaned up the long pigtails on new light fixtures. This entailed drilling out and resoldering lots of bullets, each of which may now have $100 embedded labor content. Shrink wrapped the braided stainless fuel loom. Wrestled with a location for the washer bag. Spent days trying to correct the Sytec throttle system, which POS appears to be a bodge that somehow made it to market. Now works. Mounted carbs. Mounted alu tank with bungs and urethane isolators. In the same neighborhood, fuel pump, cutoff, rollover breather. Finally sussed out the original variable speed wiper motor and ran for it an extra large ground, same with the blower motor, both leading almost directly to battery neg. Still so much to do! Keeps me out of trouble.

3 weeks ago I had the good idea to install a crash pad in my race car, not so simple, had to remove the front roll cage, steering column and loosen off the dashboard then trim the crashpad to make it fit around the roll cage. I didn't have a demister grill and new ones are between £70-115 so as there is no heater just made a fibreglass blanking plate. Finished refixing the roll cage yesterday then decided that the fibreglass door cards I made years ago are too heavy so made thinner ones saved a massive 600grams, as my car is way to heavy will have made naff all difference. Off now to Halfords to get some spray paint for the door cards

For sure you must have adjustable "A" frames and adjustable "Wishbones" at the front

Hi All
Started yesterday replacement of my sills a lot to do, grinding bolt heads and nuts inside
Also some grp work needed to repair cracks in floor at inner sill lip. Need to pick rotary cutter from Scfix today sills on order from Spyder.

Got the drivers B6 seat in. That's stressful. If the position is not good enough it requires more holes in the shell. Also a NOS Kangol belt for street use, my favorite belt of all time. Now preparing to assemble door window pieces. The originals look riveted and I think I can do similarly with aluminum rod on the new aluminum tracks. If that is not good enough I will have them welded. The windows need to be in place to then fit the windscreen to match, so, doors first. I am racing to get enough done for state inspection.

I've just unjammed my handbrake. I went to move the car on the drive to check if there was any water in the boot after the recent rain and found that the handbrake was on and wouldn't come off. I knew it was a mistake to get it working, and then lubricate the sliding bit of the handle. It was the actual handbrake handle assemble in the cabin which wasn't releasing; the white button was going in but the ratchet wasn't ratcheting.

Anyway after a bit of prodding and poking of the mechanism it released itself. It was pulled out quite far, but now it seems to be behaving.

I am in two minds whether the contrasting piping was a good idea though...
