What did you do to your Lotus today...
Hi Alan
They came from Sue Miller along with my restored seats, carpets and numerous other parts.......which I am ashamed to say I bought in 2009
The door seals were easy to install over the newly fitted side carpet.
My next task is to fit doors

Got the pistons out of a pair of old front calipers. Most satisfying.

Can you detail the modifications?
I have modified a couple of these, for street 2 seaters : cutting off the protruding bulge that is keying the body on Porsches, and welding instead a 10x15cm alloy plate with reinforcing L profiles underneath to spread the load, then glued on top a layer of rubber to avoid point stress and slip. They go just about low enough for a lowered car, are rated for 1.5 elan so plenty of margin, and they are pretty light (the matching handle is alloy as well)...
here are a few photos to detail the modifications :
PS: the earlier model (I have a '86 and a '90) with alloy crank handle weights a total just over 2kg (the steel handle adds 0.3kg to that)

Installed TTR tank with associated pump, filter, and breather roll-over valve, the tank sitting on polyurethane washers. Removed 2' excess brake line in the engine compartment, and secured three fluid reservoirs to the LHS wall.

Could be dead bulb or wrong wattage or dead regulator inside the alternator or no 12v supply to the bulb from the ignition switch.

Hi Alan,
Regarding splitting the calipers, I may if Canley Classics are still selling the neoprene internal seals. They’re not too bad.

My Stainless steel manifold arrived back from Zircotec today. I must say although it looks good it cost a stupid amount of money so I just hope it does reduce the under bonnet temperatures by 30% as they promise !

I had the exhaust manifolds on my last MGB - it had a 5 litre V8 - zircotec coated and it certainly cooled them down significantly, so I think you will see a return on your money Alan. They have changed their colour over the past few years though - mine were white.

I have had one of my elans pipes done the same as yours, yet to find out if it works.
The rather rough surface does mark easily when you have the downpipe insertion fight.
I had it done to a supercharged Exige . The U bend before the silencer used to glow red. It certainly allowed the heat to be transferred away from that.

I had to pay £85 extra to have them in a colour. I chose graphite which they said wouldn't show up marks like the white does. They have various levels of coating but I went for the top one which they call Performance 1 and including vat and carriage the cost was £530 !
I wasn't happy though with the under bonnet temps of the stainless manifold before so something had to be done. I just hope it proves to do the job!
Alan.
