Same as mine! MGF part on some angle iron bolted below the seat belt bracket. I usually run it at 45?, but by loosening the bolts (in the end of the screen) I can lean it flat forwards to put the tonneau cover on over it. I just take out the bolts and take it off for the Revival etc but we do a lot of miles and miss it when it isn't there.

Had intended to tune the carbs.

Having parked up on the drive after an initial run, then went nowhere as starter motor failed !!

Spent next 3 hours swapping out new for my old one from the bench !!

I repaired the broken wire to the field terminal of the dynamo, it having broken on the way to the Goodwood Revival (which is close to home, anyway I once drove 50 miles in the dark with that problem).

Then I insulated the reversing lamp microswitch which I had fitted at the base of the gear lever in 2004. It had shorted internally to its base plate so blew its supply fuse. In 1991 I had fitted an oil proof switch inside the gear box but it welded shut in 2004 and I haven't had the box out since.

Got the rear glass in! It was much easier than the windscreen, but the fit seems loose enough along top and bottom that the seal can be wiggled a bit and the chrome strip isn't held in at all at some places. Time will tell if it all tightens-up.

Got a surprise when I bumped lightly into one of the new Tex mirrors and it flew off the car! Mounting setup is totally unsatisfactory as lugs do not expand sufficiently. Will fix this with longer screws and washers/nuts.

I am about to change my +2 rear window seal so your comments about the seal being loose are of particular interest to me.
Was the new seal UK sourced?..If so where from?.... I understand that the width profile of some the seals being sold in the UK do seem to vary quite a bit making it a bit of a minefield trying to get one that will fit nicely, not too tight and not too loose.

Alan, I got the seal from Dave Bean; not sure where Bean gets them.

It's been a long time since I've posted to this forum but plan to be a frequent user now. I've owned this car for 9 years and recently retired. So what better way to start retirement than to embark on a full restoration! I pulled the motor out a few months ago and have been stripping out the interior, lights, bumpers, etc. TODAY I got the dash loosened to start tagging and removing everything there. Amazing how much stuff got crammed behind the dash and not at all looking forward to getting it all back in there!

Determined that the wye for the TTR large bore exhaust with an AX block should be straight rather than kinked. That adjusted part came back from my neighbor welder today, and, yes, it should be zero degrees bend. Nice fit! Not yet determined is whether the pipe at the rather large transmission drain plug for a mag box will have to be dimpled to clear.

Torquing the wheels octogonal nuts with a proper dyno wrench from now... more expensive than knocking, but safer and much more satisfying (thank you Lionel!).

Apart from the dials and dash (documented elsewhere) I've started removing the propshaft and diff. In true Classic Lotus tradition I haven't even got the first bolt off yet as I'd previously used Loctite when putting it on, so it's a bit stiff. Plus spousal shopping trip stopped play...

Found out why the heater had stopped working.

Valve clogged up with a yellowy gunk, no idea what it is, or where it came from.
The valve was new 3 months ago, and I'm pretty sure it's not its fault...
Bought the new valve when the rubber in the original disintegrated.
After buying it an old mechanic told me you could get repair kits for them and " I'm almost certain I've got a few somewhere ".

Drove 50 miles to the famous Beachy Head cliffs but lost the airbox fixing bolt on the way. Fixed up with a bit of string found on the ground. Had a walk and swim before coming back but the string stretched so it got noisy. Great open drive even in the dark though oil was running at 90?C.
