What did you do to your Lotus today...
Hi There
Lifted my +2 body off of its wooden frame and dropped down onto wood spanning the new Zetec chassis et al, so nearly there. Just a few things to attend to before it can come all the way down.
Photo below shows we used an engine hoist attached to the safety belt mountings in the sill. I can take it up and down now easily while I shim up etc.
All the best

Zetec+ 2 under const, also 130S. And another 130S for complete restoration. Previously Racing green +2s with green tints. Yellow +2 and a couple of others, all missed. Great to be back 04/11/2021 although its all starting to get a bit out of control.

Ah! Yes, rather an eleventh hour party invite to a friend’s 70th in Beverley, so I was sad to have to miss the Hinton do.
By all accounts it looks to have been a good one!

Hi all
After a recent ride out the sprint developed a slight vibration at all speeds ( none drive through). I then noticed the gear box had shifted a bit to the left on the centre console.i then jacked up the car to check out the gearbox mounts screws and bolts all ok and changed 2500 miles ago , so being a bit puzzled took the car out again still slight vibration so off with the bonnet then noticed the engine was leaning towards the rt hand side looking from the front
and the heater valve was almost touching the bodywork. This made me think is it the engine mountings. So out with the jack under the sump with a suitable board to spread the load and there it was the rt hand engine mount had collapsed. This was also replace new 2500 miles ago. luckily I had a good second hand one which I kept and put that back on.All ok now.
So goes to show the quality of the rubber bonding is rubbish to what it used to be and this part was purchased from a reputable supplier. I shall call them up ,not to demand an exchange or refund but to let them know that the product is substandard and to sort it out with there supplier.
Anyone els had this problem
Regards

Yup! Changed both two years ago when I had the engine out and the exhaust side one failed a couple of weeks ago. My temporary solution is to jack the engine and ram a block of thick rubber between the metal bits. That failed last night and I found today that the single metal part had cut through the rubber; so I've repeated the bodge but with a piece of metal horizontally over the vertical bit and the rubber on top of that.
I bought a new part from Miles Wilkins (Fibreglass Services, Lotcar etc) this morning, and may I remind the forum that his phone number from the UK is now: 07954 127841.

With my welding 'skills' there will be no close ups of my welds.
Barney, if that's a small Mig welder you're using I would recommend a few things things..
1).make sure the pieces to be welded are bright, no rust or paint etc, make sure the point you've fastened the earth to is similarly bright.
2) Weld indoors as the breeze blows the gas shield away leaving you with what's technically known as a pile of birds**t...you can turn the gas pressure up to compensate, but indoors is best.
3) Have some spare, similar thickness material to practise on to best set the amperage and wire feed speed.
4) Use Argon rather than Co2, there are/were two basic types...Argon5 and Argon20...if possible get Argon5, BOC supply it as Argoshield Light.
Do the above and even an amateur can produce sound welding that isn't embarrassing to look at.
