Ethanol and fuel additives

I agree, SENC. If I had a boat in the southeast I may have to have second thoughts on the subject....or an experimental plane with a composite fuel tank.
I imagine storing a boat with a full tank all the time could be a headache.
I have to throw one more item in here though....Ethanol, as an oxygenate, replaced MTBE which is a pretty nasty carcinogen with a fairly lengthy half life that was turning up in water well's. It wasn't just some liberal save the planet thing. As to whether there is any energy gain by using it? It is questionable. Also, most people don't know that the ethanol industry has not been directly subsidized for several years nor has the production of corn.
