Let the pictures do the talking.
There're not everyone's favorite, Bud. I can't think of a car made in both convertible and coupe form where the convertible looks better. For me, the coupe always looks more of a complete design, in Elans, MGs, E Types, Corvettes and many others.

I was talking to my father in law about this yesterday, and his opinion was that Brits from a certain generation overall have an emotional connection to open two seater sports cars, starting with the MG TD and pretty much ending with the TR6.
I generally always prefer coupes aesthetically as, like Mark said, to my eyes they seem a more complete design. But I love driving open cars on a nice day.

Well I, from choice, much prefer roadsters/convertibles because our every day driver has a roof
Variety is good.
I haven't driven my S1 Elan with the hood or hardtop fitted since I got it back on the road in 2001.
(I can also remember the deafening, resonating noise inside the Elan with the hardtop fitted - horrendous)
And I've only driven my Roundtail Spider with the hood or hardtop fitted once in the last 3 years.
I like to feel the wind in my hair (or at least what little hair I've got left).

And I think Colin chapman is telling Jo Bonnier that "you know those lovely Lotus 49's I sold you ? I'm sure you'd prefer a type 63 instead. It's the new thing you know!"
