Rolling road Cheshire/South Manchester

Just to record an excellent visit to Mikeanics, based in Congleton, with my +2S (recent engine rebuild including QED head, Webers). I did my best with the recommended Weber settings, but wasn't happy with the progression and general running. Mike put it on his rolling road, and then threw me out (best to leave him to get on with the job in peace). I came back after 2 hours to find a car which drove like a different vehicle. Tick over now reliable down to 750rpm, pull-away and progression continuous with no stumbles or flat spots, and I now know that the mixture at higher speed is right. Power up to 117bhp at 6,200 at the wheels, so as expected.
Mike obviously spends most of his time tuning including twin-cams in all guises. I'd recommend him. 07914 205654

Took mine Elan there a few months go…. He’s fabulous.
I went and found a cafe doing breakfast.
Any chance you can post up the jottings / air corrector sizes.
Thanks
Mark

I just wondered how much a RR session costs.
I imagine it would cost £200+ maybe £300.
For sure it depends on car and condition or state of tune.
Alan
Ps. Just looked on internet and i am way off, more like 400 to 500

Hi Alan,
For a full session around 4 hrs plus some parts was around £300. He is well worth the money AND he has parts too rather than just drilling out and soldering up jets/air correctors. I whole heartedly recommend this guy.
cheers

Hi Mark,
For 4 hours to set up correctly looks good value. After all the investment for a special Engine.
Enjoy driving it and have fun.

He ended up with main jets 115 / 240, slow running 45 F9, acc pump 100, emulsion tube F16, and chokes 30mm. He recommended using no 6 plugs (e.g. NGK BP6ES) for road use, rather than the no 7 plugs in the manual - just to keep them a bit cleaner. Final power at the wheels was 117.5 HP at 5,923 and max torque 117.9 lbft at 5,055.
I'm sure the engine could give more power with bigger chokes, but with less flexibility - and I'm aiming to use this as a road car rather than for racing.
