When i was in the Aero Space Industry we alway used Loctite Activator let it dry then put Loctite on Threads.
In some situations, stainless, plated/treated surfaces it should be used.
Are any of you using Loctite Activator.

My understanding is that Loctite anerobic products activation is aided by the presence of ferrous metals. Where I am joining two aluminium surfaces like the chain cover to the back plate I use the activator. Not normally required in other circumstances in my experience where usually one of the components is ferrous e.g. bearings, bolts etc but if you want a quick set to maximum strength the activator can accellerate this.

Thanks Rohan,
That makes sense as when i was in Aero Space most things were anodised alu.
Even a treated Screw would scuff off the treatment on the thread when tightening exposing ferric surface.

Yes, we called them primers, IIRC, a type N and maybe a type T. Very necessary for anodized aluminum. I can remember using primers on Campagnola bike parts.
I think I have some Loctite literature that may help you.

Yes, Primer N a green colour.
Why i started to think about it is because a freind had a problem with CV Driveshafts on his +2 Elan. The Adaptors at each end are i think alluminium. So for the Loctite on the Caphead Screws Primer/Activator should be used.
I have a feeling this was not used and that's why they came loose.
