Getting ready to leave tomorrow for LOG 40 in Salt Lake City. I am driving my early Elan 1600 and my son is driving my +2. We are leaving with a friend in an Elise and taking two days to go to Denver and travel with the LOCO group of about 30 cars to LOG. Plan to come back through Monument Valley. Some very lonely roads. About 2500 mi trip. Hope we are not crazy. Gary

Soooo ccol. If you have time keep us updated on your progress.
Such a great LOG location. For sure check out the classic Utah sights. Absolutely awesome Lotus roads and scenery. The LOCO guys will for sure select terrific routes there & back, but there is so much to see and enjoy.
Hit the highlights going to my first LOG in Las Vegas a few years ago, and we were so looking forward to the redux. Unfortunately Lynn & I send our regrets as the Canadian border refuses to fully open.
Hope to see some pictures and posts. Any word on who the Keynote Speaker will be?

We leave tomorrow from Tulsa, for a mere 1200 miles each way. The car’s as ready as I can make it - the new tires went on this am. We’re soloing it, wish us luck, and look fwd to seeing everybody there.

Good luck to you both, should be good trip.
Really wish it was a few weeks later as would be a lot more tempting to go if was a little cooler weather for getting out of Texas.

Yelotus isn't going anywhere at the moment; laid-up with the diff out. And still way too unproven for any real distance. I considered cashing-in some travel-points to fly there but too much else going on family-wise.
But the future beckons. It's only a matter of time before the stars align to make it possible for me and Yelotus to be at a LOG. Traveling in August without aircon is a daunting thought though.

See you Thursday Gary and Mike, and Stu we will miss you and Lynn
I'll be taking the old reliable Cross Country Elan since my "modern" Elan M100 is not running properly and we cannot figure it out in time to go. I think they call that irony

Well, Dad and I set out from El Paso this morning but in Las Cruces NM the Plus 2 boiled over with really nasty looking brown coolant. Thinking it’s probably a head gasket. We limped it home, transferred way too much stuff into the back of the S1 Elan and headed off. Made it to Alamosa, Co this evening after a very long day.

On the way to LOG. Today was drive day 1 of 3, OK and KS. Tomorrow is CO, looking fwd to the mountains. We got passed by an Evora on a small road in KS headed where we’re going. He’ll likely get there before we do. 800 mi to go….

Had a rough start to the day, we left our friend’s house at 7:30 this morning and made it 3 blocks before we lost power. The S1 was acting like it was fuel starved so we pushed it back home and diagnosed a bad condenser. This condenser only had like 750 miles on it, so we put in one of the three spares we brought with us. Then we didn’t get the distributor seated properly so a couple of miles down the road the distributor rotated and the car started overheating. We limped it back home and sorted everything out, and finally left at 11:00. We missed the LOG contingent but we did find a neer-do-well with a long-distance Elan on a trailer with a flat tire. We offered moral support, and then the El Paso crew and the Robbins’s rolled in to Rangely just in time for dinner.

Day 2 is in the books. 506 mi from Garden City KS to Glenwood Springs, CO. Highlights were the Beckwith and Independence passes, the latter at over 11,000 ft. Car ran great. Only way the day could have been better was if we hadn’t gotten behind an SUV caravan coming down from Independence. Argg.
The biggest car hiccup was Wed night when I realized we had no turn signals. A personal affront, since I rewired the car and had no one else to blame. Overnight I realzed that turn signal power comes from the hazard switch, which I had used for a short time on Wed. Sure enough, I cycled the switch on Thur morning, and everything worked.

Wait, what? Ross drives the thing literally all around the country, but he trailers it to LOG?
You win the perseverence trophy for sure, btw. Good show!

A red one with a Georgia plate? He's a friend of mine, posted a pic of a red Elan with an OK plate on his Facebook and I figured it was you!
