New Year's Day 2016 at Brooklands

While on a family vacation visiting some relatives in the Surrey area over Xmas and New Years my Aunt suggested that I might like to visit Brooklands Museum which was a short drive away. In my ignorance I had never heard of it, but I looked it up and saw that on New Years day the Museums would be open and they were having a classic car gathering that day as well. I went with a cousin's husband (a local) and my Father and we had an absolutely wonderful time - spent most of the day there. The museums themselves are certainly worth a visit - in fact, my cousin's husband who lives in the area loves bringing anybody he can there to visit. We also were fortunate enough to see a few Elans among all the cars there for the classic car gathering - many of the cars were parked on a portion of the old race track itself. Very enjoyable day - I'll post some pics in this thread for those who may be interested.

Yeah, what exactly IS that thing? Kinda looks like some of the VW-based kit-cars of yesteryear.

Many thanks for the great photos of my Elan!
I am a volunteer at Brooklands Museum and was working there that day but did get the chance to have a look at the few other Elans that were there. I also saw that 'Nova Lotus' but it was on its way offsite at the time so could not speak to the owner. Did not sound like a Twink but could be wrong!.
There are a few Elan owners among the volunteer group at the museum and we would love to help organise a proper Elan day if there was enough interest.
The Lotus Forums organise an event at the adjacent MB world and a few Elans generally turn out but it is mostly more modern stuff. This year it is on May 8th.
A proper Elan day at the museum would include the possibility of actually driving your car up test hill and around part of the banked track.
Let me know if there is any interest.

I am the owner of the S3 Elan (KAD 88E) that was photographed at Brooklands on New Years Day. As a Brooklands Trust Member I have never seen as many cars or people as on New Years Day. It was good to see some excellent Elans. With regard to John's post I would certainly be interested in a Lotus Day at Brooklands.
