Gave a Clutch Bleeding Lesson to a 7 Owner

I believe I have the only Elan in South Florida, and I know the location of what I believe to be the only Lotus 7 in South Florida as well. Usually on my Sunday morning drive I pass by the 7, typically located under a car cover in the driveway (coincidently only 2 houses down from my previous residence!) , and then I scoot along on my way. However, today the owner was in the driveway with the hood (bonnet) off, staring blankly into the engine compartment... so I stopped.

I pulled up and got out, and he was all smiles to see another vintage Lotus owner. After introductions, he showed me that his clutch didn't work, and he didn't know why. An empty resevoir was the answer. Having purchased his car from England about a year ago, he told me that he had no idea how to work on it. I ran home and was back in a half hour with some Castrol LMA, my glass bottle, hose, and 11mm wrench. We had it resolved in 10 minutes. (The slave cylinder on a 7 is sooooo much easier to access.) He was so excited to get his 7 back on the road again... and I realized that he was as mechanically inclined (not) as I was some 28 years ago when I bought my Elan and before I encountered LotusElan.net.

Hopefully we'll have a few future Sunday drives together.
