Rebuilt the master cylinder that was starting to slowly leak.

Drove it on the road for the first time since 1983.
Only to end of the lane and back and that was all puddles and mud but, I am not waiting any longer for the rain to stop.

One or two things to fix, like the speedo right angle drive, but nothing fell off and no leaks yet.

gorgeous ! beautiful color, too...

If I may, at some point you may consider painting satin black the flat part at the bottom of the sills : it makes for a nicer overall impression at a distance...

That’s the colour lurking on my S3 under the gold leaf colours applied (poorly) later in the car’s life.

It is black under the sills, only that white mark you can see is wax polish I have not cleared off the very matt finish. It is also now muddy as I did about 60miles today, now got a longer list of things to fix.

Last time out in car was 4 months ago, so thought I would pop to local garage to top up the fuel.

Funnily enough a 2 mile round trip turned into a 50 mile blat around the Cotswolds, returning with a huge smile ;).

Lovely.

I washed mine, and swapped out the gear oil (put the Redline back in). Big improvement in change quality.

Also, finished fettling the pods and bonnet. All solid now.

Took it for a quick spin and discovered the fan wiring is still playing up. Bother.

Shaped a wooden form to wrap a sheet of aluminum around to serve as a cover for the wheelwell cutout for the clutch master required by the TTR race pedal set LHS. Soon all the master cylinder rods will need to be sized to fit the pedal arm distances.

Finished preparation for racing next weekend at Phillip Island. New Ferodo Dot 5.1 brake fluid, adjusted LH front
wheel bearing as end float had increased a little to much, greased the front trunions. Usual check over of all fluids, brakes, chassis, drive train suspension etc. Found a small crack in chassis where LH roll bar drop link bracket connects , need to put reinforcing patch next time engines out which will be soon, I guess this sort of issue to be expected after 40 years of racing with a big roll bar. Also found one CV adaptor bolt slightly loose so re-torqued that, all the others were OK.

I have got some adjustable front top links to fit and just got an electronic camber and caster gauge for setting it up but ran out of time to get it fitted. Planning on using some A050R Yokos with the soft compound versus the medium compound I have been using and will need a bit more front negative camber to make them work properly and not chop out the outer edge to much

cheers
