Finally got an Elan!

Hi all. Can’t really say I’m a new member since I joined in 2013. Maybe just picky and looking for the right opportunity and time. I purchased the Elan on BaT on 10/1. Took a bit to arrange transport but finally got it up here from Texas about 3 weeks ago. I was fortunate to have some knowledgeable members look at it for me since it was coincidentally being auctioned in Austin during LOG. Need to thank Ross Robbins for responding to my text and Gary Boudreaux for looking at it and giving me a call about the car. Gave me much more confidence bidding on it.
Have an Elise and a Caterham so need to get the Elan up and running. Have some good Lotus buddies up here who have been generous with their time and knowledge. Doesn’t look too bad mechanically. Hasn’t run in a couple years but other than normal issues for a 50 yr old British car, hopefully won’t take too long to get it running. Definitely some cosmetic needs but I’ll work on those later.
Glad I finally got one!

*wave* from another new owner, not too far away in southeast PA. We also have relatives in Reisterstown. I will enjoy watching your journey with this significant piece of Lotus history!

Indeed we do share a 'disease' it seems. I thought I had mine 'cured' with the Caterham. Ooops.FE07 wrote:Thanks wdb. Seems we share an interest in Caterham as well. I’m FE07 on USA 7’s!!

Hey Gary. Doing OK. Finally got it out and drove it around the block the other day. Tried to bleed clutch slave the other day (again). Seems to be better. Getting kind of cold here now for any outdoor drives. Still looking for the top bows but not very actively. Have quite the list of parts I need and people to contact. Need to get more motivated to get it going. Thanks for all your help!
