New with a quick question about the handbook!

Hi all,
Been reading around this forum for a while and finally decided to make the plunge and am on the brink of buying a +2 130 with the 4 speed box.
I was just wondering if anyone has a pdf scan of the owners manual they could send my way. I have had a look online and can only find the workshop manual there. I also saw on this forum that there was a digital copy that people were sending around so if anyone could send that my way I would be more than grateful.
Can't tell you all how excited I am, and this forum was a big contributing factor for me settling on the elan!
Thanks in advance,
James

Hi James and welcome!
I have a +2S in bits at the moment, with a plan to restore it this year. For the owner's manual, there are a lot of different books that are recommended. I'm not sure if these are what you're after...
This is a good place to start:
https://www.abebooks.co.uk/Lotus-Elan-Owners-Workshop-Manual-1962-1974/22415506694/bd?cm_mmc=ggl-_-UK_Shopp_Tradestandard-_-product_id=COUK9781855200227NEW-_-keyword=&gclid=Cj0KCQiAgomBBhDXARIsAFNyUqPgU0Nk0-qmfM_LWN4yW6JVI9RxkkEoTC70ddyFHuKVEE2bLOzL_oAaAsVWEALw_wcB
But the best thing to have is the workshop manual. They come up on eBay regularly, and cost about 70 quid.
Lots of other useful volumes, depending on how much work you need/want to do yourself on the car. From fibreglass (Miles Wilkins) to the engine (ditto), etc etc. The +2 doesn't get such generous coverage as the original Elan, but there are enough similarities for it not to matter too much
Good luck with the purchase, and let us know how you get on!
Cheers
Ned

HI James,
I had a 130/5 for a few years as my daily car and it was fantastic to drive, apart from the heavy clutch, but it was 7 years old and everything broke until I decided to sell it!
Buying a fifty year old car you know what to expect and a Lotus is so rewarding it is worth the effort to keep it going. I had a pdf of the +2 Owners Manual but I have failed to locate it; I never had one back in the day and it shouldn't be a problem in owning the car but the specific +2 Workshop Manual was useful.
You know what you get on this forum. Best of luck in your ownership.

Ah thank you all for your replies. I was planning to get the workshop manual yes, however was just interested in the owners manual, but if there’s nothing in the workshop manual it doesn’t say in the owners manual I should be all good.
Thanks again,
James

Did you get that sentence the wrong way around? should it read: but if there’s nothing in the owners manual it doesn’t say in the workshop manual I should be all good.
Personally I never knew if there was an OWNER's manual and I've had my S3 coupe since 1969, 51 years.

By owners manual, do you mean the owners handbook ?

Owners manual (in Glove box) tells you how to operate the car
Workshop Manual tells you how to fix the car
Buckland Bible gives you the back storey & improvements fixing the car.

James, here is a link to where I purchased my owner’s manual. Looks like there are plans to bring the site back up. Note my manual appears to be for the earlier Plus 2 though. I can’t recall if they had later editions to suit your car.

Cheers! Enjoy the new car.
