I am the original owner (!) of a 1973 Lotus Elan Sprint. Its construction date is September, 1972. It has been sleeping soundly in a room I built for it in my basement. Last month, it rolled into my garage to see the light of day for the first time since 1979. I am planning a full restoration. It m]needs lots of work, though the body is in excellent condition. I am planning a Spyder chassis, already on order, the original chassis is not in great shape, and i like the performance and safety elements of the Spyder.
I'm 71, a former high school teacher (30 years) who had a second career as a consultant to businesses for another 17. I figure it's time to get the car back on the road. Way back when, I converted to a Weber head with twin 40 DCOEs, overbored the block, installed new pistons, polished the intake and exhaust passages, had all rotating and reciprocating parts balanced, stress received the block, and then some. then I decided to get married and build a house on my own in Vermont. The car got parked, and I don't regret that at all.
I have lots of extra parts including a Stromberg head and carbs, a full block, camshafts and more in case anybody needs anything. I am sure I will be asking questions and reading what has come before.

Welcome Larry, I am also 71 and my car has also been inside since 1979 when I bought it. I was just struck by this slight coincidence of time and age. I have been working on my car (1969 FHC Elan) since I retired. Keeps me out of trouble.
