This is my 1968 S3 that I have owned for the past 7 years I got it from Paul Matty sports cars. Its been very reliable and takes me to Goodwood every year. I am thinking of taking her of the road this year as I need to change the clutch and drive shaft CV's. I was thinking of lifting the body of to give me greater access but I'm unsure of how big a job it is. Can you help.

Greetings...
Nice looking car.
Lifting the body off will be a fairly time consuming project, partly because you will no doubt feel like replacing all sorts of other bits while you have ready access.
It isn't necessary to lift the body off to get the engine out (to change the clutch) or to deal with the rear drive shafts, so my advice is don't do that unless you want to do lots more stuff as well.
Your first step if you have not yet got one is to obtain a copy of the Lotus Elan Workshop Manual, because it details all the procedures you will need to do.
Second step is to spend quite a lot of time browsing this forum, try using the search facility to find relevant topics, though all of us will admit it is not easy to do.
Many methods of lifting the body have been discussed on this forum.

Wonderful car Greaves! Great to hear of another reliable classic.
Same thoughts as Bill above regarding leaving the body in place. The car looks in such great shape now!
Also may want to check out some of the topics regarding recommended suspension travel with CV's on the Elan. Assume the CV shaft kit is the Miller supplied type?
