Keep an eye on the water pump for leaks... Mine had been sat for years & the pump started leaking soon after I got it... Apparently they don't like being sat...
Unfortunately for me lifting the head to swap the pump opened up a bit of a can of worms
Thanks all for advice on the water pump. Fortunately it has electronic ignition already, so one upgrade I don't need to worry about.
Given how long you have had the Esprit you dont need worry about the terrors of an Elan water pump replacement. I think the Esprit is the only car that comes close to the Elan in terms of water pump replacement challenges, fortunately they seem to be somewhat more reliable !
cheers

Hello Guy,
Great to see you on the forum.
I have had the privilege to know all the previous owners of this car since it was brought to Adelaide from the UK.
I have also had the opportunity to drive it on several occasions, and almost purchased it, as it was a tossup between this lovely low mileage Sprint and a 1964 230SL Mercedes.
I opted for the Mercedes, which I still own, but all is not lost as I am hoping to complete the restoration of my 1967 S3 S/E Elan this year.
Anyhow other than a few jobs that you have, I know that you have a great low mileage car that you should have a lot of enjoyment out of.
Wishing you all the very best, hope to see it again one day.
Regards from Paul

Hi Lotus Guy,
Great Elan, love Pistachio. I guess this was sold through word of mouth?
I’m always looking and hope to have my own some day.
I’m in Sydney. I look forward to hearing about its return to the road.
Regards Daniel
