Hi
Many years ago in the late 60s I helped someone build a yellow Lotus Elan. Since then I have been hooked and have always wanted one but never managed to buy one. I was offered one in 1976 but couldn't raise the £1000 he wanted for it!!
I have now retired and am seriously looking. I'm too old, fat and arthritic to get into a "baby" Elan so I'm looking at +2s. What a joy to be looking at them after helping build one 50 odd years ago.I have refurbished a few fast fords in my days but now I'm looking at refurbished cars. What a difference in values between various cars. They are out of reach of the average person, which I am, so a rolling restoration might have to do.
I will get one!

In a few of your famous words
Do or do not, there is no try (buy a nice +2)
& I am sure you will use the Schwartz

Hi Yoda
A friend has a red Plus 2 for sale in Lancashire. The car is in very good condition and has been maintained well and correctly. After owning this car for over 40 years he has decided to sell it. You would have to look far and wide to find a better one. No expense has been spared. I am not sure of the asking price but it is the range of £22.000, ish.
Let me know if you are interested and we can take it further.
Otherwise, good luck hunting. You should really look at several cars before choosing one.

Hi There
Great cars and great decision!
Prices have softened quite a lot lately, I think 20k would get you a really nice correct and well sorted car with all the big jobs done, so replacement chassis (a must) engine decently rebuilt with all receipts etc. If you hunt around and are patient you might find something nice in the 16-18k range. Running cars needing restoration 8-10k. Cars complete in bits needing restoration 5-7k. Basket cases a bit less.
Take someone with you who knows these cars well. Pay them if you have to. Details make a lot of difference. Buyer beware.
A lot of expertise on this forum, and look at all the recent cars that have gone through the auction houses. Do your research!
All the best

Zetec+ 2 under const, also 130S. And another 130S for complete restoration. Previously Racing green +2s with green tints. Yellow +2 and a couple of others, all missed. Great to be back 04/11/2021 although its all starting to get a bit out of control.
